1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
To sign in, you use credentials issued by your organization's administrator. We store your name, username/email, and your assigned role and organizational scope (e.g. circle, division, and sub-division) so the App can show you only the bridges and data relevant to your role.
1.2 Location Data
With your permission, the App accesses your device's precise (GPS) location. Location is used to:
- Verify that you are physically present at a bridge site before you submit a progress update; and
- Attach location coordinates to photographs you capture, so inspection images can be tied to the correct bridge component.
Location is only accessed while you are actively using the App to submit a site update — it is not collected continuously or in the background.
1.3 Camera & Photos
With your permission, the App accesses your device camera so you can photograph bridge components as part of a progress report. Captured photos — along with their location coordinates and the date/time of capture — are uploaded to our servers and become part of the permanent inspection record for that bridge.
1.4 Push Notifications
If notifications are enabled, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) to deliver alerts about assignments, approvals, and progress updates relevant to you. This involves a device notification token issued by Firebase.
1.5 Device & App Information
We collect basic technical information — such as app version, operating system, and device platform — to support in-app update checks and to diagnose technical issues.
1.6 Locally Stored Data
The App stores your session/login token on your device so you remain signed in between visits. This data stays on your device and is removed when you log out or uninstall the App.
2. Permissions Used by the App
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Location (fine/coarse) | Verify on-site presence and geotag inspection photos |
| Camera | Capture progress photographs |
| Internet / Network | Sync data with the Bridge Monitoring System server |
| Notifications | Deliver assignment and progress alerts |
3. How We Use Your Information
- Authenticate you and enforce your organization's role-based access controls
- Record, verify, and geotag on-site bridge inspection and progress activity
- Generate reports and dashboards for your organization's engineering and management staff
- Send you notifications relevant to your assigned work
- Maintain, secure, and improve the App
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. Information is shared only:
- Within your organization, with personnel whose role grants them visibility into the relevant bridge, circle, division, or sub-division data;
- With service providers who help us operate the App (e.g. cloud hosting and Firebase Cloud Messaging for notifications), under confidentiality obligations; and
- Where required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of the App and its users.
5. Data Retention
Account and inspection data (including photos and location tags) are retained for as long as your account remains active and thereafter as required for infrastructure record-keeping and audit purposes. Locally cached session data is removed when you log out or uninstall the App.
6. Data Security
Data is transmitted between the App and our servers over encrypted connections and authenticated using OAuth2 access tokens. Access to inspection data is restricted according to each user's assigned role and organizational scope.
7. Your Choices
- You can allow or deny camera, location, and notification permissions at any time from your device settings — note that denying camera or location access will prevent you from submitting site-verified progress updates and photos.
- You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us below, subject to your organization's record-retention requirements for inspection records.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended solely for use by authorized adult personnel in a professional capacity and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
